We are currently entering a phase of rapid expansion with the objective of rapidly bringing competitive product(s) to market. As part of this expansion we are looking for an experienced Senior Programme Manager to join the Programme Team at Vertical Aerospace.

You will need be prepared to take on a wide range of challenges and responsibilities across multiple streams of work in a fast-moving environment, with the opportunity to be involved in multiple aspects of the aircraft.

Your duties will be wide ranging and varied and will include:

  • Working across disciplines to create specifications for the different components of the flight control system (sensors, FCC, actuators…)
  • Working in the different integration activities of the flight control system components
  • Participation in all the phases of the verification activities (development of test plans, test procedures, test in the simulator, data analysis and test report)
  • Identifying and solving airframe installation issues
  • Defining and run commissioning tests
  • Support flight test activity
  • Engaging effectively across related disciplines to ensure quality and robust design solutions that are understood by people with varied technical backgrounds
  • Managing relationships and working closely with partners and suppliers of hardware, software and technical services
  • Supporting the Test team as required to explore and validate technical solutions

Basic Qualifications / Experience

  • Educated to degree level or higher in Engineering, Physics or equivalent
  • 5+ years demonstrable experience working with Flight Control Systems or any other Avionic Systems
  • Able to apply experience to small vehicles of novel design and operational characteristics
  • Good supporting knowledge of control design and aircraft flight characteristics
  • Understanding of the role of simulation in fast-paced engineering programmes
  • Passionate about technology and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment where flexibility is essential
  • Communication of complex ideas so that they are understood by different audiences
  • Comfortable programming in Matlab/Simulink and Python
  • Fluent in spoken and written English

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

  • Worked within a highly regulated environment (aerospace/ automotive)
  • Experience working with multiple types of air vehicle, including rotorcraft/multirotors
  • Direct involvement in flight test programmes
  • Good supporting knowledge of hardware/software development and system integration
  • Familiarity with DO-178B/C, DO-160, DO-254, ARP 4754A, ARP 4761
  • Significant experience with Matlab/Simulink
  • Familiarity with SysML
  • Able to demonstrate a commitment to professional development
