We're looking for an outstanding Thermal Modelling Engineer who combines technical knowledge and experience with a demonstrated ability to bring a common sense approach to get the right things done quickly and effectively. We want to bring the very latest technologies and development methodologies to what is traditionally a slow industry.

The successful candidate must have broad engineering experience delivering programs throughout the entire lifecycle to aerospace standards.


Your duties will be wide ranging and varied and will include:

  • Leading battery development and design for thermal considerations
  • Requirements capture, decomposition and traceability
  • Thermal system design with performance / complexity / development trade offs
  • Helping to develop the certification of the battery systems, primarily from a thermal position
  • Thermal fault tree / safety analysis
  • Thermal modelling of the battery and other aircraft components with suitable software
  • Experience of designing battery electrical models
  • Presenting complex system information simply to all levels of the business

Basic Qualifications / Experience

  • Significant demonstrable relevant experience on battery systems
  • Understanding of the thermal systems that make up the battery pack
  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant Engineering discipline
  • Proficiency in MATLAB Simulink, STARCCM+ or other comparable software
  • Experience designing novel thermal systems
  • Knowledge of software and hardware engineering practices
  • Experience in communicating with senior management, as well as technical and business teams to collect requirements, describe product features and technical designs

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

  • Experience of aerospace standards
  • Masters or PhD in relevant Engineering discipline
  • Experience with building and testing comparable thermal systems
  • Understanding of machine learning techniques
  • Experience of data analysis
  • Equivalent circuit model creation in MATLAB Simulink
  • Experience modelling non-battery thermal systems such as motors or auxiliary components
