Vertical Aerospace is building technology to revolutionise how people fly. Our mission is to make air travel personal, on-demand and carbon-free.

We are currently entering a phase of rapid expansion with the objective of rapidly bringing competitive product(s) to market. As part of this expansion we are looking to appoint a Data Engineer/ Scientist to the team.

Responsibilities

Your duties will be wide ranging and varied and will include:

  • Working with the team and stakeholders to develop innovative data solutions
  • Designing, implementing and optimising data acquisition, transmission and data storage systems and databases
  • Integrating datasets into existing data pipelines
  • Applying feature transformations for machine learning models and using machine learning to build better predictive algorithms
  • Continuously monitoring and testing the system to ensure optimised performance
  • Development of data visualization tools to summarize the conclusion of an advanced analysis
  • Assisting with troubleshooting of the product

Basic Qualifications / Experience

  • 3-5 years applicable experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science degree or relevant Data Engineering / Data Science discipline
  • Experience with common data science tool kits (ie Matlab, Python, R etc)
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Experience with Machine Learning or other Artificial Intelligence techniques
  • Excellent scripting and programing skills and working knowledge of object-orientated programming
  • Knowledge of version control, continuous integration and unit testing
  • Knowledge of data visualisation tools

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

  • Masters in Computer Science or relevant Data Engineering / Data Science discipline
  • Proficiency with Matlab and/or Python
  • Proficiency in SQL
  • Experience of machine learning techniques
  • Experience in embedded programming such as C
